The Regional Museum of Ica is on Ayabaca avenue (avenida Ayabaca) at block no. 8 (cuadra 8). Taxi drivers know about this, only say "museo regional".

In Ica there are cultural activities also for the normal population as you can see on this poster, very good!

In May 2010 the Regional Museum of Ica was making propaganda for three events:

Tuesday 18 May 2010, International day of the museums, 8:30 am to 6:30 pm

Saturday 22 May 2010, workshops for children with painting, ceramics and weaving, 8:30 am to 5 pm

Friday 28 May 2010, exhibition with arts and biodiversity, Peruvian flowers and fruits, and a watercolor exhibition of Olivia Watkin.

And all these events were with free entrance ("ingreso libre").

Very good!

The entrance into the court yard was tree-lined. The honking noise of the avenue one cannot see, but there are two painted figures of gods at the entrance gate.

Unfortunately these two figures of gods could not be found in the museum itself. It seems they are combinations of men and birds, as it is often the case in the world of the gods.

In Peru every museum visitor is registered with his identity card or passport.

And then it was calm in the yard and one could see the building of the museum.

At the notice board some actual matters had been posted.

There was an article about
churches in Ica which had been turned
into traps for men There was an article about churches in Ica which had been turned into traps for men

Since the earthquake of 2007 in the regions of Ica and Pisco some churches are blocked because they are a danger for visitors. Some of them are destroyed completely or had to be destroyed and are waiting for reconstruction. Well, perhaps human rights buildings would be better showing and instructing the Peruvians humanity and responsibility which many don't feel yet at all.

The circuit begins with the entrance (entrada) passing the Stone Age (primeros pobladores), going on with the cultures of Paracas, Nazca, Wari, Ica-Chincha, and Inca. Add to this there is a little hall of anthropology with skulls and hair cuts. Next door is a copy of the Nazca line pictures, and in the second floor there is a big hall with colonial objects and of objects since the foundation of the Peruvian republic. Add to this there is a hall with special exhibitions resp. a concert hall.

In 2010 I was content with a circuit from the Stone Age to the Inca culture, with skulls and hair cuts inclusive.
